Train services on the scenic Konkan Railway route were brought to a halt this evening after a landslide hit a tunnel section between Vinhere and Divan Khawati stations. The incident, attributed to heavy rains lashing Raigad and Ratnagiri districts, occurred around 5 pm, informed a Konkan Railway spokesperson.
Fortunately, no trains were passing through the tunnel at the time
of the landslide. However, the disruption has stranded several long-distance
trains at various stations along the Konkan route. Railway officials have
mobilized men and machinery to clear the tracks and restore services as soon as
possible.
While the exact number of affected trains is yet to be confirmed, reports suggest at least five to six long-distance services have been impacted. Passengers are advised to stay tuned for updates from Konkan Railway on restoration efforts and any potential delays or cancellations.
