The Konkan Railway is facing disruption for the second time in a week due to heavy monsoon rains. A landslide occurred yesterday, July 14th, at around 5 pm between Diwankhavati and Vinhere stations in the Ratnagiri region. This has caused significant delays and cancellations on the route.
Konkan Railway officials reported soil slippage at kilometer
79.4-6 on the tracks. Due to this, several trains have been cancelled,
diverted, or short-terminated. The official Konkan Railway website has listed
the affected trains.
Rescue efforts are underway, with the Konkan Railway arranging
state transport buses to help stranded passengers. Restoration work is hampered
by the ongoing monsoon rains and debris on the tracks, making the process slow.
This is the second time in a week that the Konkan Railway has been
disrupted by heavy rains. Earlier this month, on July 10th, waterlogging in the
Pernem tunnel caused an 18-hour closure.
Konkan Railway is advising passengers to check the live train
status on their website before undertaking any journeys.
