Monsoon Wandering: A Hidden Paradise Near Panvel – Usaran Dam!

Monsoon is in full swing. A lush green carpet everywhere you look, milky-white waterfalls cascading down the hills, and a cool breeze kissing your face... In this weather, we all crave a quick weekend getaway, don’t we? However, popular spots like Lonavala, Matheran, or Khopoli are often choked with tourists.

If you want to escape the crowds and spend time in a peaceful, scenic environment, we have brought you a 'hidden gem'—Usaran Dam!

Locals also refer to it as Devloli Dam. So, let’s take a virtual tour of this beautiful lap of nature!

Where is Usaran Dam Located?

This dam is situated near Devloli village in the Panvel taluka of Raigad district. It is located just 15 to 18 kilometers away from Panvel city. For Mumbaikars and Navi Mumbaikars, it serves as a perfect, easily accessible 'one-day picnic spot'.

Highlights and Natural Beauty of Usaran

It is a small but exceptionally beautiful earthen dam. When it overflows during the peak monsoon season, the view is absolutely breathtaking.

  • Peace and Serenity: Unlike commercialized hill stations, you won't find noisy crowds here. Surrounded by the Sahyadri hill ranges and dense greenery, it offers ultimate peace of mind.
  • Usaran Monsoon Waterfall: Very close to the dam, a seasonal waterfall comes alive during the rains. The water cascading down the hills into the reservoir is a sight to behold.
  • A Photographer's Delight: If you love nature photography, the mist-covered hills and the vast expanse of water will give you some incredible frames.

Important Safety Note:
Always gauge the water depth and flow before entering the stream or dam area. During heavy rains, water levels can rise unexpectedly. Enjoy responsibly and stay safe.

How to Reach

Opting for road transport is the most convenient way to reach this hidden spot.

By Road: From Panvel, take the Old Mumbai-Pune Highway or go via the Rasayani route toward Devloli village. It takes about 35–40 minutes from Panvel.

By Train: The nearest railway stations are Rasayani or Apta. From there, you can hire a local auto-rickshaw to reach Devloli village.

Food and Accommodation

Since this place is still untouched by heavy commercialization, you won't find large hotels or dhabas right at the dam. However, small stalls selling tea, bhajias, or local home-cooked meals can be found in Devloli village and along the highway. It is highly recommended to carry your own snacks and water.

Most importantly, keep our Konkan clean and do not litter plastic!

So, when are you planning your weekend trip to Usaran Dam?
