Peb / Vikatgad fort

Fort peb situated on northeast side of Panvel,on Mumbai-Pune road at a distance of 3-4 km on west side of Neral village. To avoid crowd at hill station like Matheran Don't forget to visit Peb fort.

This is place is most beautiful fort one day treking. The height of this fort is 2100 feet. This fort is like a Gorakhgad Fort. It is also called 'Vikatgad'.

History: 
It is assumed that this fort derived its name Peb from the ‘Goddess Pebi’ at the base of the fort. Historical reference indiacate that Shivaji Maharaj used the caves of the for storing grains.

Accommodation :

As the disciples of Swami Samartha stay in the cave, we can stay in the cavern nearby. About 10 people can be accommodated here.

Getting There :

By Air : Mumbai is nearest airport.

By Rail : Alight at neral station on the central railway route and take right. The way on the left take us to Matheran. Proceed towards the huge electrics towers on the way. after we arrive at tower, we see a big waterfall.3 hours from Neral.

By Road : Mumbai to Neral is 81 km.

Places to see nearby :

The beautiful waterfall on the wzy is the main attraction here. Surrounding scenery looks marvelous from the cave in the monsoon. From here we also see the pinnacles of Navara-Navari, Bhatoba and Irshaal, along with forts of Chanderi, Prabalgad and Malang.
