As per a report published in Business Insider, the Lucknow division of the North Eastern Railway (NER) has decided to pull out six metre-gauge trains from operations as there will be gauge conversion on Aishbagh-Mailani section. These six trains will be put on auction once they are announced as “condemned” by the NER committee.
The Indian Railways is conducting inspection and all the coaches which have served for more than 25 years will be abandoned, others will be overhauled if required.
It means that the lovers of trains will be able to buy an abandoned coach and design it as their house, cottage, restaurant, etc. The quantity of iron in the coach will play an important role in determining the cost of the coach.
It was 30 years back when a coach was sold for Rs. 1,10000.
