Sri Harihareshwar Temple and Beach


Sri Harihareshwar temple, at southern end of Raigad district is a devotion center for many devotees. Devotees from all over India and abroad come to this temple situated at the coast of Arabian-sea. One side is Bankot creek and other side arabian sea and beautiful around hillock entered in it. It is a great fun to watch sea from the hillock.
Harihareshwar is situated between Bankot and Shrivardhan creek. Bankot creek is confluence of Savitri River and sea. There is a beautiful cypress grove and Bankot velas area is beyond it. You must visit Harihareshwar to enjoy its natural beauty. You can also visit Bagmandala, Agar or Kolmandla villages near Harihareshwar, which are all at the Bankot creek.


You can enjoy beautiful Savitri river on left if you are coming via toll road on Mumbai-Goa highway. You can also enjoy boating here. Sri Harihareshwar is a deity Of Peshwa. So many renowned people from Ramabai have visited this place. 

You have to be careful of the sea at Harihareshwar. Make sure you have proper information from the locals before you circumambulate the mountain that has entered into the sea and regarded as a holy place as some incidents of accidents have been reported here. Gentle winds, soft sands and inviting waters make Shrivardhan bay irresistible to beach lovers. If one relishes seafood there is no dearth of delicacies to sample here. Adventurers can even take a small boat to the north side of the bay and explore a land where the ‘Peshwas’ (prime minister) of the Maratha kingdom originally resided. The “Peshwas Smarak” (memorial) is of interest to most people who visit Shreevardhan.


The town of Harihareshwar, known for its tranquil and picturesque beach is also a landmark of Kalbhairav - the Shiva temple.

By Air: Nearest Airport is Mumbai, 215 Kms
By Rail: Nearest railhead is Mangaon on Konkan railways
By Road:
Mumbai – Harihareshwar is 230 Kms via Mumbai–panvel–Mangaon-Goregaon phata on Mumbai–Goa highway. It's 175 Kms from Pune.
Six seater rickshaws, taxis and private buses are available from Shreevardhan.
If you are coming from South, best way to take is from Khed on Mumbai-Goa highway via Khed-Mandangad-Veshvi-Bankot.
