Vijay starrer Mersal earns 43 crore on day 1, breaks record of Dangal, Raees and Kabali, check details


Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s recent release Mersal, which released this Diwali, has created a storm on the Box-office. Mersal is directed by Atlee, has an excellent box-office collection on the first day. The movie is breaking few records, beating the collection earned by Rajinikanth’s Kabali in Chennai for opening day. Apart from domestic market, Mersel got a good response in the United States, overtaking records of Bollywood megastars like Aamir Khan’s Dangal and Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees.

On the first day, Mersel has earned more than Rs 31 crore from the ticket sale all-around the nation. According to journalist Sreedhar Pillai, the film raked around Rs 22.5 crores just from the state of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.
The south Indian star, Vijay has a strong fan base in Kerela, where the film said to have the biggest opening for a Tamil film. Reports say the opening day earning of Meresal in Kerela was more than Rs 4 crore.

The film is also released in other international markets such as Malaysia, Austraila, the UK and others. Taran Adarsh said Malaysia had a ‘mania’ for Mersal, where the film debuted by collecting MYR 586,665 (Rs 90.31 lakhs). “Tamil film #Mersal – Wed previews… AUS: A$ 133,057 [₹ 68.01 lakhs] – 25 locations UK: £ 94,311 [₹ 81.08 lakhs] – 37 locations,” tweeted Taran.
According to industry tracker Ramesh Bala, Mersal collected Rs 31.50 crore in India, while its worldwide collection stands at Rs 43.50 crore.
Predictions are box-office collection of the will be good due to advance bookings. The movie was made in the cost of Rs 130 crores.
The movie is a revenge drama, which revolves around the fight against corruption in India’s medical fraternity. Vijay has brilliantly portrayed three roles in the film, Meresal also stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kajal Aggarwal, Nithya Menen among others in the lead role.
