Thoseghar Waterfalls

Thoseghar Waterfalls are the incredible picturesque waterfalls located near Satara in the state of Maharashtra. The waterfalls are at a mere distance of 26 km from Satara, its district headquarters. The falls are located at the edge of Konkan region. These waterfalls incorporate a series of small and big scenic waterfalls, some of which are mere 15-30 metres in height while the highest one is around 500 meter in height.


According to a legend, the Thoseghar Waterfalls are also referred to as “Ram and Lakshman Waterfalls”. As the name suggests, the falls has been named after the Hindu sacred God ‘Ram’ and ‘Lakshman’. Water collected from a wide range of mountains mainly from Kaas and Mahabaleshwar along with Panchgani starts flowing via Thoseghar Waterfall. Tarlee River originates from these waterfalls only. There are also some ancient holy temples and historical places around the waterfalls are major attraction for the tourists who comes here. During the monsoons, this place is definitely a worth visit.
Recently, a platform has been built by the local government here which offers tourists to stand safely and closely and to witness the stunning view of the Thoseghar Waterfalls. The waterfall has also faced some bad incidents since many tourists have wasted their lives while enjoying some wild adventures here. Therefore, the government has taken strict actions towards security and safety here.
You should also visit Plateau of Kaas which is in very close vicinity to the waterfalls. It is an exotic place with rich variety of flora and fauna.

By Air : Pune Airport is the nearest one, 146 km away from the site and has direct flights to major cities of India and abroad.
By Rail : Nearest railway station is at Satara and is well linked with major cities of India. It lies on Pune-Miraj rail route.
By Road : Satara is well connected by road from the major cities and towns of the state. After reaching Satara, you can hire a taxi to reach the waterfalls.
